The Growth Company and NSL are celebrating 10 years of working together and building upon success in partnership, providing employment support to residents across Greater Manchester. During this time, we have been proud to have helped over 120 unemployed individuals to secure lasting, sustainable employment. Many of our candidates have then gone on to either being promoted to more senior roles within NSL or progressed within other organisations.  NSL is part of Marston Holdings and is the UK’s leading provider of civil parking enforcement services.

According to Suzanne Grange, Regional Account Manager at The Growth Company Employment:  “We are very proud of this achievement and the relationship we have with NSL is a great example of how you can make a difference to local communities by working together.  We meet regularly to maintain this success, support NSL with their employment needs and make a difference to Greater Manchester residents.”

The main focus of both organisations is to support individuals from priority groups, helping them get back on track and gain employment whilst actively promoting social values as well as corporate and social responsibility. NSL has joined the Disability Confident Scheme which challenges attitudes towards disability and ensures that disabled people have the opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations. The company is also taking part in the Kickstart scheme, offering opportunities to young unemployed individuals.

NSL plays an important and active role in job fairs organised by GC Employment, which are opportunities for employers to engage directly with unemployed jobseekers.    These events are typically attended by more than 300 people where they find out about potential employment opportunities as well as pre-employment programmes such as Skills Support for Employment, career advice and guidance and National Career Service.

As a diversity-led employer, NSL is always keen to engage with variety of individuals, particularly those in the 50+ age group. Recently two people within this age group were offered employment by NSL, one of which had learning difficulties and the other had a health condition. The company supported both candidates at every step and made reasonable adjustments to help them to secure sustainable employment.

In 2020, an International Women’s Day event was held in Manchester City Centre. Focused on unemployed females, NSL discussed some of the available positions, including Civil Enforcement Officer and Customer Service Representative roles.  Candidates that met the essential criteria secured guaranteed interviews.  NSL has worked with The Growth Company to recruit more females onto their roles by introducing more flexible shifts and part time opportunities to achieve a better balanced work force. Its current ratio of females at work is 1:2

Whilst the Covid 19 pandemic has brought major difficulties for many of the employment sectors, NSL has kept all on-street staff actively employed. They have stepped onto key worker roles such as delivering food parcels to the vulnerable, monitoring business that should have been closed and directing traffic at the local recycling centre. These are just a few examples of how the company has diversified and adapted its workforce in these uncertain times.

A statement from Suzanne Grange, Regional Account Manager at The Growth Company Employment

“NSL has been continuously very supportive towards our candidates. They always list those individuals for interviews giving everyone a chance and making any reasonable adjustments that might be necessary. The company is extremely supportive and always goes above and beyond the call of duty to provide our applicants with best experience. Communication is a key factor that makes our partnership with NSL so effective. The past ten years have proved that working together has been a big success. We are delighted that so many of our candidates have been able to progress and secure lifetime careers.  We anticipate that our partnership will continue to make a difference with the ongoing support of unemployed individuals in need across Greater Manchester.”

NSL Statement from Mark Hoskin, Group Business Development Director at Marston Holdings

“NSL is part of the Marston Holdings group and has a longstanding working relationship with The Growth Company. We have worked together across our Greater Manchester contracts for over ten years and providing employment opportunities for harder to reach individuals. Our participation has included open days, jobs fairs and joint initiatives such as the International Women’s Day and supporting those who are registered disabled back into the workplace. There have been many success stories over the years, specifically in Manchester and our contact centre in Oldham which is a testament both to our client account managers and the people we work with at The Growth Company who have supported these initiatives and provided the opportunities for local people in the towns and cities in which we work.”
